Ken Davenport produces for Broadway and off-Broadway and writes a daily blog called The Producer’s Perspective. It’s from a producer for people who are trying to be producers and that means every musical theater writer should read it.
Wait. What?
I know, if you’re like me, you are the least “producerly” person possible. (There’s a reason my wife and not me is president of our company, The Musical Machine.) I have no business sense. What I do have is enough sense to know that good sense applies everywhere, and you’ll find it at Ken’s blog.
What pushed me over the edge to write about this is this gem from today’s post:
“The secret of success is not celebrating it. It’s just doing what you do . . . and letting whatever happens, happen. Do it enough, and with enough passion, and the success will catch up with you. I guarantee it.”
Oh. My. Jeepers. This is gold. I didn’t want to write and edit on two separate works today . . . and that’s exactly what I’m going to go do right now.
OK. That’s it and that’s enough.
