Here’s a riddle: What do you have, that when you give it away, you end up with more?
Credit.
Got a great lesson in that Monday night at Lone Star Theatre Co.’s first gala. We’re friends of Lone Star so their marketing director Ben Wright asked Sherry to bring a dessert.
Brownies. To. Die. For.
Imagine our surprise when we showed up and saw this poster thanking sponsors . . . with Sherry's name on it.
Yup. Sherry was thanked as a sponsor.
Never underestimate what shared credit means to the one you share it with. And that’s not just a lesson for non-profit theater companies.
Credit hogs are easy to spot (thought they usually think they’re quite sly). But if you get credit for something and share it, you still have the credit and you just earned more.
OK. That’s it, and that’s enough.
